My Story
On Sunday September 24, I'll be jogging/walking a 10-kilometer course through the streets of London.
With that in mind, I'll be participating in the Vitality London 10,000 - running, jogging, staggering, spluttering, and wheezing my way past some of the capital's most iconic landmarks and crossing the finish line in front of Buckingham Palace.
I'm doing it to raise funds for the AWMS and SLGS STEM Holiday Club which offers 100 teenage children from 25 local schools in Sierra Leone 4-weeks focused on coding, design, ICT, and robotic. 50% of the students are girls.
The STEM Club offers the following:
• Develop core STEM skills that apply to school subjects and their future careers. They will use the robotics kits and computers SLGSOBA donated to learn programming and build various machines to learn engineering theory through practical lessons.
• Each participant will receive 24 training sessions: 16 in 4 weeks summer camp and 8 Saturday sessions in 1st term (October to December).
• Tuition is free, and lunch is provided. Stipend is available if required to students to cover travel costs for the days they attend the STEM sessions.
• 2023 club started on 31, July 2023, Phase 1 ended on 28, August 2023 and Phase 2 will begin in October to December 2023.
The teachers and tools are provided by the Sierra Leone Grammar School. All costs of running this STEM Club are jointly funded by AWOGA UK and SLGSOBA UK.
I will appreciate all your donations, no matter how small. 100% of donated funds will go to funding the next STEM Holiday Club school!
Next stop: Buckingham Palace!
