My Story

I'm going on the run! No, don't worry, I haven't done anything bad (not that I'm owning up to anyway....) - I'm going to be running 10km through the streets of London on Sunday, September 24.

At the start of last year I couldn't run a bath - but despite being 60 in a few months' time, I'm in better shape these days and I'm ready for challenge.

With that in mind I'll be tackling the Vitality London 10,000 - running, jogging, staggering, spluttering and wheezing my way past some of the capital's most iconic landmarks and crossing the finish line in front of Buckingham Palace.

And I'm doing it to raise funds for those wonderful people at Cancer Research UK.

Cancer has twice been an unwelcome visitor to my house - and it didn't leave empty-handed either.

My beautiful daughter, Katie, was just six when she died of cancer. Her memory will be inspiring me every step of the way this September and I'm determined to raise as much as I can so that one day no other child will go through what Katie did; no other family will go through what we did, and in fact still do.

That's why I'm asking you to sponsor me if you can please. I know times are tough but every penny can make a difference.

By sponsoring me, you'll be helping bring forward the day when all cancers can be cured.

Thank you.
